Baseball Throwing Drill: One Knee Follow Through Drill

This is a good throwing drill for young players. It teaches correct throwing position and follow through.

Have players get down on one knee (right knee down for right handed throwers and left knee down for left handed throwers). Ball should be held with both hands (inside glove), like a pitcher setting on the mound.

On coaches command (ready, set), have player bring throwing arm back, with knuckles to the sky, and glove hand pointed out in front at the target. Examine player and correct any mistakes. Once in proper position, coach gives the command (release), and player should throw ball straight ahead at a target, finishing by following all the way through.

Repeat drill several times (ready, set, release) and correct any mistakes.

Things to focus on are starting position (ready), throwing position (set), and finishing position (release).
